Solarize Syracuse a Shining Success!
Solarize Syracuse is a grassroots community solar initiative for the City of Syracuse and the Towns of DeWitt, Manlius and Onondaga (and villages within).
Through popular education and by combining the purchasing power of our community to save money and the planet, we successfully doubled the number of residential solar installations in our project area.
Solarize Syracuse held its first workshop on July 31 and its last workshop on September 13. Our enrollment deadline was September 31. Our contract signing deadline was October 31.
• Over 600 people attended our nine workshops and our solar open house.
• Over 500 property owners signed up at workshops and on the web for free site assessments to get a solar quote.
• To date, 77 property owners have signed contracts to make the switch to solar energy (75 residential, 2 commercial properties), amounting to approximately 500 kilowatts of clean renewable energy.
Solarize Syracuse is grassroots renewable energy in action. We are modeled on other successful Solarize projects throughout New York and the United States. Find out more about Solarize Syracuse and the Solarize Movement.
